Laura Coombs Hills introduction: Her birth year was 1859 and was an American artist and illustrator. She was a specialist in pastel and watercolor still-life paintings in miniatures, as well in miniaturized portraits. The work Hills painted during the 1880s, were heavily influenced in part by her work in the Barbizon school. In her later works she was inspired by the Boston School's romantic Impressionism.
