Renato muccillo landscapes

Artist Renato Muccillo's landscapes are often compared to those of Dutch masters and 19th-century British artists. muccillo’s paintings, however, remind us how frequently today’s landscapes are impacted and encroached upon by humans and industry. We are at first dazzled by the luxurious colors and almost magical light, but, on closer inspection, we notice culverts, pilings, the rumble of logs, or the feathers of distant chimneys. Even the farms that are the subjects of his paintings make us wonder if they are viable and if they are abandoned, because there are no signs of human life there—only traces of humans and machines. The content is disturbing.
However, we have become so accustomed to these factors around us that we often ignore them, taking for granted what is there, leading us to focus on the impact humans have on nature, forcing us to realize that nature is irresistibly beautiful, if not an illusion. . Sometimes, admiring one of his works is like being seduced by the enchanting song of modernity against the backdrop of romantic aspirations. Finally, we are often inexplicably forced to look up at the sky, stare there with our eyes, forgetting what we have left behind, or rather what has been left behind. Perhaps it is for this reason that we remember the skies painted by muccillo, long after we have moved away from them.
