Henry Asencio, born 1972 in Los Angeles and an award-winning American painter working primarily in oil on canvas, is well known for his paintings of female forms with abstract backgrounds that combine femininity, spirituality and abstraction to transform contemporary ideals of sensuality. Asencio's paintings can be loosely defined as contemporary pieces with elements of expressionism as well as realism combining into his style called Abstract Expressionism/Abstract Realism as his personal style is what he defines it as. His personal style he describes this way!
Abstract Expressionists have always been my greatest influence when it comes to techniques. I admire that each had their own philosophy, which allows me to choose elements I connect with that best suit my personality. Giants such as de Kooning (whose each stroke of brush was unique), Lucien Freud's fleshy works (his vision, work ethic and unwavering passion are unparalleled), Picasso (unmatched vision, work ethic and unrelenting passion unmatched) and Klimt (who created decorative paintings with honesty) move me profoundly; I simply need recognition at time.
