Pino - 1939-1910 Pino Daeni, an Italian Impressionist artist and book illustrator. His unique style of romantic, feminine women and strong men is well-known. He is best known for his loose but precise brushwork. His signature brushwork features softly lit females with pastel-tinted highlights and smooth shadows. His ability to capture fleeting expressions, movement and emotion is what makes his women stand out. Pino Daeni's paintings and canvases invoke feelings of warmth and nostalgia as well as love and family. Many of his paintings are set on brightly sunny beaches along the Mediterranean coast where he was born. Pino, born Giuseppe Dangelico, is known for his extraordinary ability to capture the expressions and movements of his subjects. This talent has earned him a worldwide following as well as private portrait commissions. Pino's alter-ego, a young boy who is surrounded by beautiful women (his aunts, cousins, and sisters), can be seen in a variety of emotions, from adoration to isolation. Pino's characters often appear in sensuous boudoirs, or dressing rooms, as they wait for their husbands or love interests. Pino studied at Milan's Academy of Brera and at the Art institute of Bari in Italy. He was also trained at Milan's Academy of Brera. Pino developed his talents painting figures and nudes heavily influenced from the Pre-Raphaelites, Macchiaioli, and Macchiaioli. Pino, who had already established himself as an artist in his homeland, immigrated to the United States in search of more artistic freedom. The Borghi Gallery was quick to discover him and gave him several exhibitions in New York City and Boston. Pino's first paintings were softly romantic, featuring mostly women wearing flowing skirts and dresses. These captured the attention of Zebra Book Publishers as well as Dell. He was commissioned by Zebra to cover his first book. His popularity grew and he was the most sought-after artist for Zebra, Bantam, Simon, Schuster, Harlequin, Penquin USA and Dell. Pino has illustrated over 3,000 books to date; his illustrations have dominated the market. Pino's unique technique, warm and vibrant colors, and simple approach to his subject matter are why his original paintings, as well as his limited edition serigraphs and giclees, are highly sought after by collectors around the world.
